Since 1963, Semester at Sea and the Institute for Shipboard Education have offered a once in a lifetime opportunity for university-aged students to sail around the world and earn a global education. Each voyage's unique itineraries consist of 10+ countries across 3 continents.
The voyage is roughly four months long and aboard the MV World Odyssey are about 500 students, 60 faculty and staff, and almost 200 crew members.
My role on the voyage was the Social Media Coordinator/Voyage Photographer. It was my job to not only take photos and create short-form engaging content, but create and plan out the content calendar as well as manage five student assistants.
With VERY limited internet access while at sea, that made for one of the most engaging communities you could possibly be in since you're forced to spend your life living in the moment and interacting with your fellow voyagers.
